The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) is a unique professional body providing members with a local, national and international learning and business network focusing on the responsible stewardship of assets and their safeguards for generations which may rely on such financial security. STEP provides education, training, representation and networking for its members. Members advise clients on the broad aspects of asset management, including business entities, some of which may have cross-border transactions. Full members must fulfill established requirements of eligibility by demonstrating the necessary qualifications and experience. Such members are the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates.
In addition to consultation and tax preparation services, LHM Jr., CPA has successfully represented clients in tax audits conducted by tax authorities. He has been engaged as the U.S. agent to represent foreign trustees and executors in tax return filings and communications with IRS and other tax authority representatives. He has performed fiduciary accounting services for clients, as well as assist fiduciaries with communications with beneficiaries, foreign and domestic.
The firm has performed services for inbound and outbound U.S. trusts and provides planning for cross-border family members. Services have also included analyzing complex cross-border intercompany relationships and tax transactions to enhance administration efficiency and tax reporting.
Professional experience includes extensive trust and estate accounting and administrative services in California and Oregon. Such services included advising the executor or trustee on the post-death procedures to perform and creating the various sub-trusts as stipulated in the trust instrument and/or will of the decedent. These services were provided for both decedents who died in the USA, with beneficiaries living abroad, and decedents who died abroad with U.S. beneficiaries.
